| Jug Wilson St Incident |
Wed. Aug 5th 2009
Town of Glen Alpine Fire Department responded to numerous power line and fallen trees on Aug 5th, 2009. Among these calls was a report of a tree accross the roadway with power lines on the ground. When units arrived they found that part of Jug Wilson St was completely blocked. Fire Crews began with the assistance of Town of Glen Alpine Street Dept, Duke Energies, and Burke County REACT to clean up the roadway. Responders worked for several hours to clean the tree from the road and restore traffic flow and power. During this clean up effort the town was hit by a second storm that delayed clean up for about 30 minutes. Glen Alpine Fire Dept would like to thank all members who were able to come out and help with the incidents, Burke County REACT for there assistance in Traffic Control and Duke Energies for there quick response to the scene of all our calls that day. Also a HUGE thanks to the Glen Alpine Ladies Auxilary for Logistics, by bringing Food and Refreshments to all of the Responders envolved.
